Transform your RFP response cards into polished proposal documents with Trampoline's AI-powered Writer
Beta: This feature is currently in beta. You may encounter bugs or incomplete functionality.
Overview
The Trampoline Writer is a collaborative document editor that helps you generate professional proposals from your board's cards. It uses AI to:
Generate document structure from your RFP files and cards
Classify cards into the right sections automatically
Generate content for each section based on assigned cards
Collaborate in real-time with your team
Getting Started
Accessing Writer
Navigate to your board and click the Writer tab in the navigation bar:
Creating Your First Document
Click Create Document in the Writer dashboard
Enter a title for your proposal
(Optional) Add a custom prompt to guide the AI's structure generation. Examples:
"This is a security questionnaire. Create one subsection per card."
"This is a company presentation."
(Optional) Select RFP files — only cards from the selected documents will be used for classification and content generation
Click Create Document
The AI analyzes your board's cards and any selected RFP files to create an optimal section structure for your proposal. If you selected specific RFP files, only cards associated with those documents will be available for classification.
Understanding the Document Editor
Layout
The editor has three main areas:
Area | Purpose |
Header | Document title, collaboration status, save status, and actions |
Sidebar | Table of contents with card classification |
Main Editor | Rich text editor for document content |
Editing Your Document
Sections
Sections are the primary building blocks of your document structure. They define the hierarchy and organization of your proposal.
Three levels — Section 1, Section 2, Section 3
Automatic numbering — Sections are numbered hierarchically (1, 1.1, 1.1.1, etc.)
Card assignments — Cards are assigned to sections for content generation
Generate buttons — Each section has options to generate or regenerate content
Numbering updates automatically as you add, remove, or reorganize sections.
Headings
Headings are secondary formatting options for content within sections. They're smaller than sections and don't receive automatic numbering.
Three levels — Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3
No numbering — Used for styling, not structure
Smaller text — Visually subordinate to sections
Use headings to organize content within a section without affecting the document's numbered structure.
Other Formatting
The editor also supports:
Bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough
Bulleted, numbered, and checklist lists
Block quotes
Code blocks
Links
Real-Time Collaboration
Multiple team members can edit the same document simultaneously. You'll see:
Changes from others appear in real-time
Collaboration status indicator in the header
No save button needed — changes sync automatically
Working with Cards
Card Status
Cards display a status indicator:
Yellow circle — Incomplete card
Blue circle with checkmark — Complete card
Card Classification
After creating a document, Writer automatically classifies your board's cards into appropriate sections. You'll see:
Unclassified Cards — Cards that haven't been assigned to a section yet
Excluded Cards — Cards marked as not relevant to this document
Section Cards — Cards already assigned to specific sections
Once classified, cards appear directly under each section in the document for quick access.
Note: While classification is in progress, editing is locked for all users.
Manual Card Assignment
Drag and drop any unclassified card into a section in the sidebar. This gives you full control over where content belongs.
Re-classifying Cards
Click Classify Cards in the sidebar to run the AI classifier again. This is useful when:
New cards have been added to the board
You want to re-evaluate unclassified cards
Card content has been updated
Excluding Cards
Some cards may not be relevant to your current document. Drag and drop any card into the Excluded Cards section in the sidebar to remove it from classification. Excluded cards won't be considered by the AI classifier.
To bring back an excluded card, drag it from the Excluded Cards section back into a section or the Unclassified Cards area.
Generating Content
Generation never overrides existing content. It only fills in empty sections. To replace content in a section that already has text, you must explicitly click Regenerate, which will show a warning first.
How Generation Works
The AI generates content based on the cards assigned to each section:
Cards with content — The AI follows the information in your cards as closely as possible, paraphrasing to ensure the text flows naturally within the document.
Cards without content — If a card only contains a question or task but no answer, the AI will still attempt to generate a response. It has access to your knowledge base and RFP documents to find relevant information.
Note: Generated content from cards without answers may not be fully accurate since the information hasn't been verified. Always review and verify AI-generated content, especially for sections where cards were incomplete.
Generate All Sections
Click Generate All in the header to generate content for all empty sections at once. Sections with existing content are preserved. The AI uses the cards assigned to each section to create relevant proposal content.
Tip: Assign cards to sections before generating content for better results.
Generate Individual Sections
Hover over any section to see the generation options:
Generate — Appears on empty sections. Creates content for just that section:
Regenerate — Appears on sections with content. Replaces existing content (shows a warning first):
Generate All — Appears when the section or any of its subsections are empty. Generates content for all empty sections within that branch.
Generation Warnings
When clicking Regenerate:
Warning that new content will replace everything in that section
Option to continue or cancel
When using Generate All:
Shows how many empty sections will be generated
Confirms that sections with existing content will be preserved
Incomplete cards warning:
If any assigned cards are marked incomplete, you'll see a warning that this may affect content quality
You can continue anyway or go back to complete the cards first
Nothing to generate:
If all sections already have content, you'll see a message confirming there's nothing to generate
Exporting Your Document
Export Formats

Troubleshooting
Document not syncing
Check the collaboration status indicator. If it shows "Offline":
Check your internet connection
Refresh the page
Changes will sync when reconnected
Cards not appearing
If expected cards don't show up:
Verify cards exist on the board
Check if cards are filtered by RFP source
Look in the "Excluded Cards" section
Generation taking too long
Large documents with many cards may take time to process. The "Classifying" or generation status will show in the header while processing.
